project summary
Fabled studio in London commissioned us for the bedroom, restaurants and public area artwork on this fabulous project.
Focused heavily on Irish artists, this project drew on the historic Iveagh Gardens surrounding the hotel for its inspiration. Storytelling was a significant part of the brief with the area being so steeped in culture and historic interest, and every single piece was commissioned site specifically. Each of the pieces has its own legacy story, and we hand-finished prints/maps in gold leaf and sourced and framed vintage scarfs.
A specially commissioned map of the Gardens by local artist Cate Doyle features in the reception area, and we also commissioned maps of Dublin and illustrations of Gulliver's Travels by Irish writer Jonathan Swift, including original etchings by artist Karen Daye Hutchinson.
The bedroom pieces were based on sketches from an original art college sketch book from the 60’s which inspired the pop art style. A key piece by John Patterson art sit in the Iveagh suite.
